Sailaja Vittaldev joined as an IB PYP Teacher in Silver Oaks Hyderabad and her passion towards teaching and learning motivated her to deep dive into the IB methodology and Pedagogy.
She moved to Silver Oaks Bangalore to assume the responsibility of PYP Coordinator. She has systematically steered the school towards the IB verification visit after which the School achieved the accreditation as “IB World School”.
She constantly explores the usage of thinking routines that promotes Constructivism, Cognitivism and Connectivism.
Trained to oversee the learning programme of IB PYP & MYP and align it to National Curriculum Framework, she mentors the teachers to bring in effectiveness of teaching and learning in the classrooms.

In the last 8 years, she attended many IB Workshops and acquired IB Certificates in Teaching and Learning; PYP Inquiry; Making PYP Happen; Teachers as Researchers; PYP Assessment; Creating Inclusive Classrooms and Launching MYP in classroom.
Project Zero of Harvard School of Education
She has done an online course with project zero in “Teaching and Learning” and “Creating Cultures of Thinking” to create enriching experiences in the school.
Also successfully completed an online offering of “How to Learn Math: For Students” from Stanford professor Joe Boaler.
She was also a part of designing the First Summer Course for Gifted Children under the aegis of Gifted Education Programme of National Institute of Advanced Studies.
Motivational conferences like – Education in an Era of Globalization – Howard Gardener; Find Your Voice-Meena Raghunathan; Five Minds For The Future – Dilara Syed; Teaching Science – Seetha Murthy; Education Today Society Tomorrow; Think Creativity and Intelligence Quest; The Association of International Schools of India; IB Global conference Yokohoma 2017, have further enhanced her professional skills.
Sailaja attended in School training programs on CBSE approach and curriculum models.

She conducts workshops for teachers to ensure effective teaching and learning program in the school.
She had the privilege of winning TAFIT – 2015 Award (Teacher Awards For Innovative Teaching) and was adjudged to be one of the TOP 100 Awakened & Innovative Mentors of India.
Endurance, perseverance and resilience are the strengths she built during her Himalayan treks which she has been doing for the last 6 years. Having walked up to an altitude of 13500ft, she still wants to explore how far she can go.
She loves interacting with young learners and facilitating their learning process. She takes pride in exploring ways and means of developing conceptual understanding in them. It is her desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in their areas of interest by providing an environment that is safe, hospitable and one that encourages risk-taking.
Recognizing her capacities and potential, she has been appointed as the Principal of Silver Oaks International School Bangalore from 18th March 2018.
Seeking inspiration from Gandhiji’s saying “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever” she promises to work on creating an ecosystem for inspired learning.
