About ISAP


Every literate is not educated and every educated individual is not necessarily a literate. Wisdom, presence of mind, creativity and innovation pervade all challenges in every sphere of life.


The School has cherished a long journey in transforming itself from a conventional teaching methodology to that of student centric methodology — the constructivist pedagogy where the pedagogue is not just a teacher but a facilitator who facilitates the learner to get to his or her own understanding of the content.


Engaging students and helping them construct knowledge, gain insights, build on problem solving skills, boosting their self-confidence, and a passion for learning are common goals that educators bring to the classroom.


Involving the students and helping them explore their potential is a challenge by itself! And who else can do better justice if not for the ‘Pedagogue’.  The cumulative difference over the years lies in transmitting and making the students understand the embedded concepts with clarity.


Students who have completed their journey in PYP are well acquainted with all the five essential elements of knowledge, attributes, skills, concepts and attitudes with action being the learner outcome.


On observing, we understood that as they move to the next grade level their energies and inquisitiveness in learning have to be sustained.


To redefine the teaching learning process at the middle school level, to raise the standards of the students’ conceptual understanding and also to sustain the inquisitive minds and energies of the students who have done their PYP till grade-6, the Intellectually Stimulating Academic Programme [ISAP] was started in the year 2012 with thematic teaching and now it has gradually evolved to design model teaching.


The objective here is to continue to stimulate the minds of the young learners into understanding the big picture of learning Science, Math, Social Science, and Languages in order to develop their intellectual capacities and critical thinking skills through design models that are student centric. 


How are the subjects learnt:


Science and Math

are learnt best by doing and understanding. The topics of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics are vertically and horizontally aligned with the PYP and the Senior wing syllabus for better comprehension and continuity. Young minds are stimulated by encouraging them to think about the scientific theories, principles, formulae and derivations rather than they being transferred as gospel truths.


Social Science is a combination of:

  • Big History Project: to understand the history of evolution through different thresholds in a transdisciplinary manner.
  • Social & Political Life: to understand the basic concepts of democracy, constitution, universal adult franchise, etc
  • The Incredible History of Indian Geography: to develop an understanding on India and its rich culture, geography and heritage.
  • A Really Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson: a specially abridged and adapted book for young readers. This book will help to explore the mysteries of time and space and how, against all odds, life came to be on the wondrous planet we call home.
  • Financial Education: to understand basic financial concepts and how to use them in daily life to make informed choices and take effective decisions.
  • English: we embarked on ‘Novel Study’ as an approach to develop language and to build a culture to read. Apart from the novel study, the Mind spark English will give scope for self-learning and extensive practice.


Telugu /Hindi

Resource books in the 2nd language will serve in multiple ways to develop language. Apart from these resource books, other sources like internet and novels  will be used for different purposes to achieve goals of developing listening, speaking, reading and writing skills and grammar.

All the above subjects are constructivist design models that have been designed by using various strategies and critical thinking tools.

With the expected learner outcomes from the students, the various constructivist design models are helping the students’ enhance their cognitive abilities. Thus making the learning intellectually stimulating and challenging.
