La Fete National
On the 15th & 22nd of July, the Junior wing and Senior wing of Silver Oaks International School celebrated the National day of France, also known as Bastille Day or La Fete National. Students took it upon themselves to put together a performance in honour of the occasion.
The assembly kicked off with a song and dance by the students, followed by short skits that allowed us glimpses of life in France.
The volunteers wore red, blue and white as homage to the French flag. The event concluded with students enthusiastically participating in a question and answer session with the Principal.
The Investiture Ceremony
The Investiture Ceremony of the student government, for the year 2019-20 was held on Friday 12th of July.
It was a solemn moment and a matter of pride for the parents, staff and students as President, Vice president, the Governor, MLAs and MPs took their oath.
It was a proud moment for the elected candidates as their parents pinned on their badges on them. We welcome our newly instated student government to their positions of responsibility, and look forward to a productive year after an exhaustive but fair elective process.
School Parliament Election
The School Parliament elections were conducted on 10th of July 2019. Our acorns enthusiastically participated in the democratic procedure.
We celebrated the first book launch for this academic year and it indeed was a celebration because the author was our very own teacher Ms Subha Manoj.
Mr Naresh from Moochie Books brought the story to life with his effective dramatisation and narration enthralling the young audience … our acorns from PP II and Grade 1 !
International Yoga Day
The Yoga week culminated on June 21st, International Yoga Day. On this day, the entire school geared up for a special morning assembly. All students and teachers from Pre-primary till Grade 10 were a part of this.
The assembly began with a few students of grade 6 speaking about the origin, development and aspects of Yoga. This was followed by an innovative story presentation by Grade 4. The students came up with a creative story which had characters like the Lotus, Tree, Frog and the Snake. While the story was being narrated, other students of Grade 4 demonstrated these character poses through different yoga asanas.
The air all around was calm and invigorating. Finally, the school practised fifteen yoga poses which concentrated on stability, flexibility, meditation and breathing. Every one experienced a complete rejuvenation of their body, mind and soul.
To conclude, the students and teachers were advised to continue practising yoga every day in order to bring out their best potential in a positive manner. This endeavour from the school’s side was with an aim to encourage students and teachers to have a balanced life.
